Introduction
The functions below describes a scenario where a user dials a Local (or national) Number – a Proxy Number – depending on which services, the call is then either forwarded through the Internet and/or the PSTN – to a Destination Number; or in the case of Dial-Tone or Service Number, for interaction with the system. Call-a-FriendThe Call-a-Friend function connects two people trough shared local access numbers. User A dials a local access number from his preferred phone to reach user B. The system forwards the local call to user B’s preferred phone if users A and B have a previously configured relationship in the system. User B will se a local phone number as Caller ID when his phone rings. When user B answers, the rest of the call is held as usual. User B can use the number presented to him to reach user A. My Global Presence NumberThe My Global Presence Number function is similar to the Call-a-Friend service, but the local number is not shared and can be published; thus, anyone on the PSTN can reach user B using this number. The user can have multiple numbers in different parts of the world. ![]() Meet MeThe Meet-me function allows both parties to dial in, using local access numbers, and be connected. User A calls the local number to reach user B (as described in Call-a-Friend and My Global Presence Number). When user B’s phone rings he does not have to answer. Instead re redials, or answers and hangs up and then re-dials, the presented number and the call is connected to user A. Dial-ToneThe Dial-Tone function allows a user to call anywhere, without previously created mapping. Any number can be called through a shared local access number. The access number is dialed and then after a voice prompt, the actual number to call is entered (using DTMF). |
