Introduction
A trunk simultaneously transmits data and voice packets from one point to another. RTC Access is a virtual SIP trunk including numbers, integrated to billing and provisioning of DIDs. For a client who wants to communicate over IP within the enterprise, but also outside the enterprise a SIP trunk provided by RTC that connect to the traditional PSTN network is the solution. Unlike in traditional telephony, where bundles of physical wires were once delivered from the service provider to a business, a SIP trunk allows a client to replace these traditional fixed PSTN lines with PSTN connectivity via a SIP trunk service over the Internet. RTC Access is a service that allows Operators to share the capacity for all their virtual phone numbers on one common trunk. With RTC Access there is no need to provision E1/T1 in each geographic location and no need to pay minute fees. SIP trunks can offer significant cost-savings for enterprises, eliminating the need for local PSTN gateways, costly ISDN BRIs (Basic Rate Interfaces) or PRIs (Primary Rate Interfaces). Operators can manage the capacity allocated to each of their local numbers according to their specific needs with maximum suppleness. The Benefits of SIP Trunking?Location Independence - Traditional voice is attached to a physical location - SIP VoIP flexibility allows call routing to any IP address worldwide including home offices and soft phones. More and more enterprises are discovering the value of voice over IP (VoIP) and other applications based on SIP, the Session Initiation Protocol. But as they migrate to VoIP, enterprises need a way to connect their IP PBXes and other SIP systems—like Microsoft Office Live Communications Server (LCS)—between sites or back to their service provider. RTC Access lets service providers meet this growing need simply and cost-effectively. Purpose-built to provide comprehensive security and control for VoIP and other SIP applications, RTC Access scales to support hundreds of VoIP sessions over thousands of SIP trunks while still maintaining the availability, quality of service (QoS) and security that enterprise customer’s demand. |
